An automated self-service library has been opened at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages!

On December 24 of the current year, an automated self-service library was officially opened at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, becoming the first of its kind among higher education institutions in the country. This initiative represents an important step in the development of the university’s infrastructure and in expanding access to knowledge.

The opening of the library took place within the framework of the «Libraries Within Walking Distance» program. Previously, 26 autonomous self-service library stations had been installed across the city of Almaty, and the launch of an automated library at the university marked a logical continuation of this initiative.

The modern library format enables students and faculty members to use the book collection free of charge. The process of borrowing and returning books is максимально simplified and does not require any special skills. To get started, users only need to register for an individual library card by completing a short application form.

Books are issued for a period of 14 days, with the option to extend the loan period via the «Extend» function on the touchscreen interface.

The collection of the automated self-service library is updated quarterly with new book acquisitions. In addition, readers may submit requests for required titles through the university library’s circulation desk.

The automated self-service library is a combination of technology, convenience, and open access to reading.

We invite students, master’s and doctoral candidates, as well as faculty members, to take advantage of this new opportunity.
