This year marks the 95th anniversary of the birth of Mukagali Makataev, a great poet and subtle lyricist who enriched the spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people and expressed national identity through poetic expression. This is a celebration not only of one poet, but of the entirety of Kazakh poetry.
On February 5, 2026, in the Reading Hall of Foreign Literature, a book exhibition entitled “How Can I Call Myself a Poet, I Only Repeated What My People Had Said” was organized in honor of the 95th anniversary of the birth of Mukagali Makataev.
The book exhibition featured books from the library’s collection dedicated to the life and creative work of Mukagali Makataev.
