Book Presentation

On November 14, 2025, in the Foreign Literature Reading Room, a presentation was held for the German-language book “Mein Leben als kasachische Frau” by Professor Bakhyt Zhatkanbaevna Shpekbaeva, Scientific Director of the Austrian Library. The publication was supported by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria and the Department of Culture of Lower Austria. The event also featured the introduction of the Kazakh translation of a selected collection of poems by the Austrian writer, epic poet, lyricist, and playwright Erika Mitterer.

Honored guests of the evening included:
Hero of the Nation, statesman and public figure, Colonel General Sät Beisembaiuly Tokpakbayev; Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, member of the Writers’ Union and the Journalists’ Union of Kazakhstan Saule Doszhan; statesman and public figure, Lieutenant General Alik Zhatkambaevich Shpekbayev; veteran of Kazakh television and distinguished journalist Arshagul Serikkysy Toibay.

The presentation was opened with welcoming remarks by Dana Anuarbekovna Kunanbayeva, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development of Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, who also presented a letter of appreciation to the book’s author, Professor Bakhyt Zhatkanbaevna Shpekbaeva.

During the event, students recited poems and performed musical pieces in Kazakh, Russian, and German. University faculty and honored guests shared their memories of the author and reflections on the book. The literary evening provided valuable cultural and educational insights for the student audience.
