4 March 2026, a literary evening entitled “Two Souls — One Song” dedicated to the works of M. Makataev and S. Yesenin was held in the Foreign Languages Literature Reading Hall.
The purpose of the event:
- to deepen and broaden students’ knowledge of the творчество of the outstanding poet Mukagali Makataev and one of the great sons of the Russian people, Sergey Yesenin, as well as to conduct a comparative analysis of the poems of Kazakh and Russian poets;
- to teach students to appreciate poetry, to understand the meaning of poems more deeply, to improve their speaking skills, to develop expressive recitation from memory, to inspire admiration for poetry, to develop analytical skills, to foster aesthetic appreciation, love for their nation, homeland and family, and to encourage creativity.
The event was organized within the framework of the Decade of General Education Disciplines of the College of International Service and Management and was held in cooperation with the librarians of the university library.
During the “Makataev and Yesenin Readings,” students recited poems dedicated to the themes of homeland, love, and nature. The works of the great master of Kazakh poetry Mukagali Makataev and one of the most prominent Russian poets Sergey Yesenin were expressively recited from memory by the college students.
The participants of the event — teachers and students — received rich spiritual nourishment by engaging with the profound, multifaceted, and lyrical poetry of the two poets. The evening aimed to enhance speech culture and actively promote classical literature, leaving the audience with deep and lasting impressions.
