On April 13, 2026, as part of the Decade of the Russian Language and Russian Literature, a book exhibition titled «Рыцарь и хранитель родной речи», dedicated to the works of S. I. Ozhegov, was organized in the M. M. Kopylenko Reading Hall.
Sergey Ivanovich Ozhegov was an outstanding Russian linguist, lexicographer, Doctor of Philological Sciences, and professor. He made a significant contribution to the systematization and development of the norms of the Russian literary language.
His most well-known work is the “Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language.” This dictionary covers the vocabulary of the Russian language and plays an important role in the formation of speech culture.
S. I. Ozhegov’s scholarly legacy remains relevant to this day, serving as a valuable source for linguists and a wide range of readers.
