1. General Provisions
1.1. The Library and Information Center (hereinafter – the LIC) of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages preserves collections that correspond to the educational and research areas of the university and organizes access to them.
1.2. The LIC performs scientific, informational, and cultural-educational functions. It supports the university’s educational, instructional, research, and innovative activities.
1.3. These Rules have been developed in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 17, 2000, No. 827 “On the Approval of Library Regulations for the Educational System Libraries” (as amended on July 18, 2003), the Regulations on the LIC, and the university’s normative documents.
2. Reader Registration Procedure
2.1. Subscription department staff create reader accounts in the Registration module, including full name, category, email address, phone number, and other required details.
2.2. After registration, the reader must familiarize themselves with the LIC Rules of Use and strictly comply with them.
3. Rules for Using the Subscription Department
3.1. The subscription department provides books and other materials for home use.
3.2. When ordering materials, the reader must present their ID card.
3.3. Upon receiving books or other materials from the LIC collection, the reader must carefully inspect them and report any defects to the librarian. Otherwise, the reader who last used the item shall bear full responsibility for any damage discovered later.
3.4. Readers may borrow materials for one semester or one academic year.
If the required literature is not available at the subscription desk, access to electronic documents can be obtained through the library’s website.
4. Rules for Using the Reading Room
4.1. To use the reading room, it is sufficient to present an ID card for visit registration.
4.2. The reading room provides open-access use of its collection, allowing visitors to independently locate the necessary materials and browse the available publications on topics of interest.
4.3. Encyclopedias, reference books, and dissertations are available for use only within the reading rooms.
4.4. The reading room provides access to the Internet, subscription-based databases, and the library’s own electronic information resources.
4.5. The reading room also provides access to domestic and foreign newspapers, journals, bulletins, and other periodicals.
Older publications may be requested from the LIC collection by contacting the reading room librarian.
5. Rules for Reserving Literature via the Online Service
5.1. Open the link to the МегаПро electronic catalog.
5.2. To log in to the electronic catalog, enter your surname and library card number.
5.3. To find the desired book, specify the search parameters (title, author, or other details).
5.4. Select the required publication from the search results.
5.5. Mark the selected books and complete the order form.
5.6. When the book is ready for pickup, the reader will receive a notification by email or in their personal library account.
In the personal account, readers can track the order status and cancel requests if necessary.
5.7. Order preparation may take between 3 and 7 days.
The library issues books for up to 30 days; however, rare editions may be subject to earlier return upon request.
7.Work of the department of acquisition and processing with gifts
7.1 The main criteria for accepting a publication / s as a gift is its / their relevance, scientific, historical and artistic value, compliance with the thematic and typological profile of the collection of the LIC fund.
7.2 The Library does not accept as a gift publications aimed at promoting ethnic and religious hatred, racial intolerance, propaganda of antisocial behavior and other negative phenomena.
7.3 Acceptance of publications as a gift is carried out in the acquisition and processing department of the LIC (UK # 3, office 110) be indicated: author, title, publisher, year of publication, physical condition of the publication or contact by phone: ext. (2190).
