The presentation of works by Austrian artists is an important part of the activities of the Austrian Embassy in Astana. In this regard, part of the cultural events are held in the Austrian library.
One of them is the screening of the film “Mephisto”, which took place on 12 October at 12:00 in the reading room №1. The main role in this film was played by the Austrian theatre and film actor, screenwriter, director Klaus Maria Brandauer. This film “Mephisto” (Mephisto, 1981) brought Brandauer world recognition and the award of the Cannes Film Festival for the best male role. The role of Hendrik Höfgen, a provincial theatre actor who made a career during the Third Reich, opened Brandauer’s door to world cinema.
The film screening was attended by 34 students from the Faculty of Education and 12 students from the College of Education.
Professor Shpikbaeva Bakhyt Zhatkanbaeva, the scientific head of the Austrian library, gave brief information about the film in general, as well as about the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer, who played the main role in the film.
At the end of the presentation, teacher Kamzina G.Z. asked the students what impression they had left of the film. The students were glad to have the opportunity to attend the event and got a good impression.
